BodyThink has now reached over 35,000 young Australians.
Forthcoming Body Think Training dates in 2008 include Adelaide and Perth and Melbourne and Sydney in April 2008.
To participate and reserve your place, visit www.thebutterflyfoundation.org.au and follow the prompts to the BodyThink tab to register for your state, upon which you will receive an eflyer and booking form or call (03) 9822 5771 for more information. Booking is essential to confirm a place at each session.
Research has shown that girls and boys learn about body image and beauty ideals from a very early age, and consequently often struggle to build a healthy self-esteem.
BodyThink is a specially created workshop for school aged children (11-14 yrs) to help them grow up with an informed, balanced viewpoint. This includes putting the beauty world in perspective; understanding and dealing with feelings about their physical appearance as well as how "ideal" images of beauty are created.
The workshop materials include a booklet with facilitation notes, surprising facts, activity cards and a DVD that investigates the photographic and filming trickery used to create 'perfect' images.
BodyThink is available to teachers and community professionals via attendance at a ½ day training run by The Butterfly Foundation. Attendee's can then use the Bodythink resources to inspire the young people they work with to improve their body image and self esteem.
If you are interested in attending any of the teaching seminars please visit register your interest here.
