Lets encourage youn girls to have a realistic and healthy body image

Behind the scenes
When we set out to release the film, Generations, we wanted to give it an Australian essence. So we embarked on a search for young Australian girls to record the song True Colours for the ad. Our search resulted in the discovery of eight girls, all aged between eight and twelve, and each with a beautiful voice.

The film highlighted the need for attention to be paid in Australia to the issue of self-esteem, in particular in building image-related confidence, especially amongst young girls. In the thought provoking ad, a redhead girl "hates her freckles," an Asian girl "wishes she were blond," a thin girl is "afraid she's fat," and a little girl with freckles, glasses and missing teeth is "afraid she's ugly."

The commercial was part of Dove's Campaign For Real Beauty, and more specifically a part of the Dove Self-Esteem Fund.

Since Generations, Dove has created more viral films that address the issues of self-esteem and body-consciousness.

Onslaught exposes the multiple beauty pressures that young girls are subjected via a fast pace look at media, TV, music videos and plastic surgery, while recently launched Amy poignantly depicts how the pressure to be "beautiful" in today's society negatively affects one young girl.
